The Project commenced in 1997 as “Operation be my Friend” with the aim to provide respite for parent carers of adult children with disabilities and to look to the future when the parent is no longer able to provide the care. Southern Cross Care (NSW and ACT) has included some limited accommodation provision.
Discussions between Catholic Care and Federal Members eventually lead to the development of NDIS.
